Netflix casually tweeted an offer to Ellen this morning about filming a new stand up comedy special...and SHE ACCEPTED! That's right, Ellen DeGeneres is going to put out a brand new one hour stand up special on Netflix!

Most of you already know that Ellen started as a stand up before she got into acting, and way before she became the daytime talk show host queen that she is today.  As a matter of fact, it’s been 14 years since DeGeneres’ last stand up special, "Here and Now" which premiered on HBO and we couldn't be more excited to see what Ellen has been jotting down on napkins and notebooks the past 14 years.

Netflix seems to be the new home for stand up comedy specials. Comedy Central, Showtime and even HBO are now second tier options. Netflix has also lured Chirs Rock, Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld and Louis CK all from the premium channels which were once considered to be the traditional outlets for specials.

We hope this deal will lure some other retirees over to the streaming side like the eventual return of Eddie Murphy.

If you have never seen Ellen do stand up, there is a clip below that is a short mash of jokes from her last special, "Here and Now." Enjoy!
